Broome County Health Department Announces Seasonal Flu Clinic

(BINGHAMTON, NY) – The Broome County Health Department will hold a seasonal flu clinic on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The clinic will be held at the health department located at 225 Front Street, Binghamton, New York, and is open to anyone 18 years and older.  The fee for the flu vaccination is $20.

The pneumonia shot will also available for Medicare Part B recipients aged 65 and older at this clinic.  There will be no out of pocket fee for the flu or pneumonia shots for Medicare Part B recipients. If you are covered by traditional Medicare Part B, your flu shot will be covered.  This year the health department will also bill Excellus Medicare Blue PPO and Today's Options by American Progressive.  If you have one of these Medicare Advantage programs your shot will be covered. 

No other Medicare Advantage programs will be covered at this time. H1N1 vaccinations will not be available at this clinic. Parents should seek seasonal flu immunizations for children at their regular medical provider. If you do not have a regular medical provider for your child, call 607.778.2839 to make an appointment for your child to receive a seasonal flu shot.

The health department will announce any future seasonal flu clinics through the media.  Clinics will also be recorded on the health department’s information line at 607.778.3911, option 2, and posted on their website at
