Broome County Health Department and Office for Aging Announce the Postponement of Their Seasonal Flu Clinics

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Broome County Health Department and the Office for Aging have depleted their supply of seasonal flu vaccine and are postponing their clinic scheduled on October 13, 2009, and all other clinics going forward until further notice.

“We learned from our vaccine supplier that our shipment would be delayed and we are not certain when we can expect to receive the rest,” explained Diane O’Hora, Supervising Public Health Educator for the Broome County Health Department. The health department speculates delays may be due to manufacturers focusing on the production and distribution of the H1N1 vaccine, the virus that is predominately circulating throughout the nation. “When the seasonal flu vaccine becomes available, we intend to resume our clinics,” O’Hora further stated.
The Broome County Health Department will continue to update the public on the status of its seasonal flu vaccination clinic schedule and invites the public to visit their website at or to call their information line at 607.778.3911, option 2, for updates.
